The prices to BKK are very similar here for AC and CX in not so flexible J and if the seats are no worse AC and then Thai may be an option to think about. I think arriving on Thai in J or F offers better service on arrival.
Yes, they are very similar. The design of the AC pod gives you a slightly roomier feeling than CX.
These were very good seats when they were ordered circa 2004~5. It took AC a long time to roll them out because it did not know how to properly install them. It was 2006 before the first one entered service. It has been 5 years and there are better products in the market now. CX has already begun a renewal process to replace those pods. I have not heard the replacement schedule for AC yet. Hopefully soon. Moderate wear and tear were evident on those AC pods during my recent trips from normal usage.
