I don't know yet about the Leela - but it is in Chanakyapuri, so location may not be to everyone's liking. However, it is in the same area as a bunch of the other large Delhi hotels, and some people do hotel hop for dining options in that neighbourhood.

I would disagree about the Aman - it is a beautiful property, but something about it just doesn't work for me - whether it is the incongruous tapas bar or weird location. I do think the Imperial is now past it, unfortunately.

On balance, I think the choice remains the Oberoi. Location is better than the Aman or the Leela, and though it is a bit corporate and the rooms a bit bland, it is the only one of these places where there is a pretty even match of well heeled locals and businesspeople. Food is pretty much the best of all of them and Oberoi service is generally quite good, with the occasional hiccup.

The shame is that the Taj properties in Delhi are so lacklustre - the Palace is just a huge conference hotel, and the Mansingh is old and in need of an update.
