TSA blog just posted that they've identified the screener involved, removed him/her from screening duties, and have initiated disciplinary action (which could be anything from 'retraining' to removal, of course).
This points out why the media is so important, and why government secrecy is so bad. Were it not for the media attention, this screener would likely have continued to get away with stuff like this (almost assuredly this is not the first time the screener has done something like this).
