In FT tradition, I'd say that you should ask to be routed LAX/ATL/DTW or better yet LAX/JFK/DTW for the miles! Or, if you really have chutzbah, you could ask for LAX/SFO/SLC/MCI/ATL/MEM/CVG/JFK/DTW
