Neither makes sense in the business model and neither is likely to actually come to fruition.
Assuming that you are not having trouble finding VDB's and that the cost of acquiring a VDB is << than the incremental revenue of the full fare Y, why would you not want to sell it?

Seems to me that's a game I'd want to play all day if I was the CEO of an airline!

Sure, there is a natural limit to the number of oversells, but this thread is more about reducing VDB's than increasing them. I'm simply saying that the status quo has worked for UA, so why wouldn't it work for CO???
