I'm not sure I'm ever going to understand CO's upgrade process.

A few days ago, a friend used a UA CR1 via the "integration desk" to upgrade a two segment CO metal flight next week. Both flights waitlisted for the upgrades.

After this was done, when looking at my itineraries on CO's website, each segment now showed two entries (not dissimilar to the way UA does it).

Tonight I noticed that the first flight suddenly had R availability. So I went to the itinerary and was able to pick an F seat for the first flight. I then went to the second flight and was also able to pick an F seat.

But the original segments are still showing with the original Y seat Exit Row assignments. IF I try to pick an F seat from segments, I get the "how do you want to pay for it" dialogue.

So am I upgraded or not?

You need to call. I had this happen with my wife. She was waitlisted on CR-1 and I got the same thing you did when it cleared (able to pick the F seat). I called, they removed the Y segment and put her in F.

If you don't call the remaining Y segment could knock your reservation out of sync.
