They have a shuttle that goes into Athens proper 2 or 3 times a day, and the beach is great. the cab fare from the airport to the complex is about 25 euro (if they aren't on strike). there is a bus that goes there that takes about 45 minutes, but its not too bad.
The Astir strike schedule was for six airport buses per day and the cost was 35 eur per room or 60 eur in a private car. The cost for a taxi, if available, was also 35 eur. A manual rental car from Avis was 40 eur per day, or 70 eur for an automatic. Parking is free. Budget is cheaper but, depending on the clerk's whim, requires an international drivers license in addition to a national license from your country of origin. Officially the international license is required throughout Greece. I chose the Avis option since I wanted to see the Poseidon temple at Sounio.
