exactly... someone right on the margin might decide to skip one trip for this reason. someone not right on the margin sees benefit in throwing multiple trips delta's way at the end of the year when they've got all the levels they're going to get.

this is the one i have trouble with sometimes.. i've done an occasional MR to top off a level, but we do have some folks here who seem to fly for the sake of flying -- if they weren't chasing status, they wouldn't fly *at all*.. and when they do redeem, yeah, it seems that just buying a J ticket would have been more effective.. well, to each his own.

if i didn't fly for business, i'd do a few gratuitous trips a year just to get off the ground once in a while, but i kinda suspect my flights would all end up in vegas..

seeking out RJ's? and people thought not wanting diamond sounded silly! :-) you can also aim for 757's, where the walk of shame is nothing more than a simple right turn at the entry door. personally, i don't find the walk of shame nearly as irritating if i had no opportunity to try for the upgrade anyway -- my mind has had me in coach all day, and i'm not even concerned about those big chairs at the pointy end.

but those people in the DL F cabins -- they know i'm a wannabe!! 2h05 and counting until i can SDC off of today's walk of shame flight.. :-) the 2:45p BOS-ATL always treated me well as a silver.. now i can't clear it on a fall tuesday as a gold??
