Departing SBIA ~ 10:00 to the north (1R) we had a good view of the incredible masses of water east, northeast and north of the airport and Bangkok. Almost complete water coverage as far as you could see. I had seen a fair amount of helicopter coverage on TV, but from much higher elevations you get a real feel for the enormity of the situation.
The ride from town to the airport was unusual; traffic was heavier going towards the airport than the in-bound commuters. A lot of employers have established work-at-home capabilities or just outright closed up. Suvarnabhumi didn't seem overly busy; maybe two minutes wait to check in with PG, and speedy security.
Now comfortably ensconced in Phrae, it was unusual, for me, to see a 7-11 fully-stocked, including bottled water.
I just saw a TV report which mentioned the water treatment plants, and the efforts to protect them. Also some mention about intermittent loss of electricity ( ~ 30 minutes ) in some areas.
Again, best of luck to those staying in Bangkok.
