Floodwater Reaches Saphan Mai Area of Bangkok
UPDATE : 25 October 2011
The floodwater has reached the Saphan Mai area of the capital, as Phaholyothin Road is now submerged under 30 centimeters of water.
Many have already fled to evacuation centers.
There was a severe traffic backlog earlier today on Phaholyothin Road, particularly on the inbound lanes, due to the floodwater which has been flowing onto the route and into the surrounding residential areas since last night.
The road between the Royal Thai Air Force Stadium and Saphan Mai area is now submerged under more than 30 centimeters of water.
Many people have have gone to evacuation centers prepared by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
Meanwhile, the water level from Rangsit area to Vibhavadi Road in front Don Muang Airport has also been measured at more than 30 centimeters.
Most residents in the area say the floodwater reached them sooner than expected, making it very difficult to commute as the deluged zones are now only accessible by military vehicles.
