My wife, child (6 yrs) and I will be making a three night stop-over in Amsterdam - we would love to see the city and, also not spend a fortune, in accommodation, in the process.

Not knowing the city at all - I am daunted with the options/locations.

Does anyone have any tips on which hotels and where to book?
