There is a very simple answer to your question. If you don't want to meet-up; then pay to get in. A relatively cheap option is the presidential plus card from chase.

If you and your wife fly ten times a year, then it's less than $10 a head each time you guys access the club (assuming clubs are on each end of your round trips).

Or you could put your $200 a year Amex plat airline credit towards a Club membership....

I'm not sure how much cheaper you want it.
