Why not? Even if not seated together, passengers are usually more than willing to switch seats to allow traveling companions (especially couples) to be seated together.
I don't mean to tkae it OT, but haven't you read people saying "If you wanted to sit together, you could have picked the seats together". Some people are very reluctant to move from their preferred seat. I can understand the reluctance too.
We did not always succeed in having people switch when my wife and both my sons were Plats.
