If you'll be somewhere where the current is the same as the US (110/120) then this inexpensive kettle also works. Just leave the lid slightly ajar to have a continuous boil. Snapping the lid down securely activates the safety feature which automatically switches the kettle off once the water boils.

The downside to this kettle is that it needs to be used a number of times to get rid of a plasticky smell.
