I'm trying to plan a South America trip for November 2012, but unfortunately as everyone knows, the BAEC "enhancements" will be arriving before I can book tickets that far in advance. Also from the looks of things, the great value of using BA miles for SA will likely come to an abrupt end after the changes go into effect.

I'm hoping to book my tickets prior to November 16, for as late as the schedule will allow (probably early October 2012 on LAN). I know I can change the date/time of award flights without any fees online, but my question is, if this is done after Nov 16 and the miles requirement goes way up, will changing the date/time then mean also making up the difference in miles?

I'm guessing no one probably knows at the moment... but thought I'd ask anyways.
