1-I have used both lounges, and you should have no problem. Virgin lounge is better, but the other club is airside so you might want to explore both.
2-In AMS, the SQ lounge attendent will issue you a pass to use the private shower facilities of the Mercure hotel. There is no shower within the SQ AMS lounge.
