Can an Associate Cardholder Later Get a Primary Account and Full Sign-Up Bonus?

Hitting the minimum spend requirements for sign-up bonuses can be a drag these days, if your normal credit card spend isn't that high, and if you plan to use other cards at the same time where beneficial.

Take the Chase Sapphire Preferred, for example. I just got the card, but I may need my wife's help to hit $3K spend in 3 months. Her spend is frequently at brick-and-mortar retail establishments where I'm not around and where she needs her own card.

So let's say I get her an associate card on my account. Not sure if that qualifies for a few extra points, but it certainly doesn't rate a second 50K sign-up bonus. So in 3 months or 6 months, she decides to get her own, unlinked Chase Sapphire account. Can she establish her own account and get 50K points?
