I don't know if it would be easier - borderline cases where they fly just over 1200 TPs a year would be harder to achieve, I think, at 1500 TPs in 1 year instead of 600 in a year to silver, and then 1200 in a new year to Gold? Also maintaining gold would be a bit harder with 1500 TPs than 1200 TPs, assuming that they would keep the qualification and requalification thresholds the same.
That is, of course, before taking into account the long haul TP adjustments, but those who do mostly SH could be hit.
For European members, of course 1500 TPs/year would be quite a lot more than 800 TPs/year, so I bet many will drop off being a Gold in two years' time, despite the long haul TP adjustments.
