Just discussed this with Mrs Oxtailsoup and she says that our daughter (who is 10 years old) did sit in the Exit Row seats earlier this year for about an hour on a flight to BGI. My wife says that when the seat belt signs come on then you have to return to our allocated seat. But again this is an assumption... Not based on definitive knowledge
We normally book the Exit Row and the row directly behind on long haul holidays on the 777 using the GCH perk of being able to book Exit Rows for free. It keeps the cost down when travelling with the whole family.
We have a trip to DXB tomorrow and that's why I was asking. Luckily on the way back we'll be in Club thanks to a cheap one way WT+ offer followed by an MFU
