Any US member who qualifies mostly thanks to US transcons will do so far more easily now than before.
I would assume that
Raffles had euro-cheats in mind rather than euro-genuines. I am not so sure that there are so many as some seem to assume but let's concede for the sake of argument.
What troubles me, though, is the underlying premise on lounge crowding. Maybe I live in a parallel universe to others or it is just that perhaps I travel at different times of the day than most, but the GF at either LHR T5 or LGW have never looked crowded to me (I don't use BA's T3 lounges much so can't comment on these). (if you want to know what crowded means, try LH's lounges at FRA or AF's ones at CDG).
The BA lounges that I have found crowded on the few occasions I used them instead of the GF lounges are the Galleries Club lounges. So I suppose, to the extent that the changes are likely to generate even more crowded galleries club lounges, there is a relative improvement in the sense of GF lounges not becoming worse, unlike Galleries lounges.

This is a one-off improvement for somebody trying to climb the ladder. However, it should not make any significant long-term difference. Once you are at Gold, the rule no longer makes any difference on renewing. And if you go down just one rung and need to climb back up just one rung, whether the non reset is beneficial to you or not will depend on the precise timing of your flight schedule and it cannot be assumed to be favourable or unfavourable.
We dont know the full extent of the changes yet. So we cant really comment.
So if it is the case that there is no point in discussing the changes until we know everything, should we suggest to the mods that all threads on the BAEC changes be locked until 16 November?
