Like others, I think this is a misconception. I think that the European gold constituency was always relatively small and it seems to me that whatever European golds will disappear will be more than compensated for by an increase in the number of golds from both the UK and the US thanks to the increase in long haul TPs. Any US member who qualifies mostly thanks to US transcons will do so far more easily now than before.
Think I agree, it's easier to qualify now for a potentially bigger audience. Likely to be more golds, not having tier points reset makes a big difference.
