Agreed. The new Skyliner is a lot faster than the NEX.

However, it only goes to Ueno or Nippori, which are not very interesting. Tokyo or even Shinjuku would be more fun to spend a few hours and have better restaurants. But then if you take the Skyliner, you would have to spend extra time to take additional transportation there. That's why I favor the NEX. Plus they have a combo offer with Suica, which makes the trip cost a lot less than the Skyliner.
