So I was rather obsessive compulsively looking for J seats this January from NYC-BKK (yes, I may have been foolish last week to have believed the Thai government regarding the flooding of the capital) over the past few weeks, and award seat availability was almost nonexistent for the past few days. I ended up 'settling' for one of the few F seats available during the month on the outbound and then found that they released J seats the next day. I'd advise those looking to go in the near term to consider booking sooner rather than later. Two weeks ago, J on CX had lots of availability on various January dates, but it seems to be getting scarcer. The issue wasn't the HGK-BKK legs, which are very open in J, but rather the NYC-HKG flights.
