I get why LAX-ATL is hard to begin with, but I had my first taste of FCM while booking yesterday. LAX-ROC (via ATL) was $200 or so in Y. Or $500 in F. Knowing on a Friday morning I'd probably definitely be in the back, I ponied up the extra $300 (if you want F, pay for F, right?). At that price point, I can justify the expense internally.
As long as that pricing structure exists, DL gets more $$$ and more medallions sit in the back. I get it and it makes sense for DL, but does diminish our benefits.
tell me I'm a fool. I can upgrade my T fare to a K fare for $290.00 and use one of my SWU's to confirm J class for LAX to ATL (744) and ATL to LGA.
Or, I wait it out and hope as a DM, I get the comp ugrade and don't wind up in a middle seat on the top of the bird
