MPM - call them

I don't know if the layover is worth the extra miles or not. Still working some of the connections, as this fare is more flexible than most AA fares.

I also don't know how to find the maximum allowed on this fare, which could make all this moot.
Call AA and ask and also ask them the excess mileage charges - I used to do strange routes on the way to Europe a lot and AA would always tell me the MPM. Typically you'd pay more if you exceeded the most direct route by more than 10-15% or so. Paying the extra was often well worth it. It auto prices on AA - and most of the time I just let it autoprice so I could go do things en route for under 24 hours. Don't know about the other airlines.

Here is a useful thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...age-chart.html

Ah here you go - just what you wanted - the electronic version from IATA that covers every possible route. It's a real bargain for frequent flyers and apparently it is on sale this week - yours for $73k and change - or you can get the grubby old fashioned book version with no doubt 99% of the info missing for a few grand. How many round trips AUS-DFW is that I wonder.....

This site has info and suggests 25% is the magic number - that seems high to me and there is no reference to justify the info - but who knows maybe true - but I don't think so as I am sure I got zinged for additional fare at less than 25% extra.
