O.k., I have to ask: why does being with coworkers make any difference for Hyatt Place vs. HGI? Price equal, I'll take Hyatt Place, but they are rarely price equal, or even price competitive with HGI.

To the OP: loyalty programs are like cameras: the best one is the one you will actually use.

If you have a need for properties outside of the urban centers, then programs like Hyatt are of limited usefulness. Personally, I would sleep in the rental car, or at least Motel 6, before I would ever stay in another HI. If we also exclude HH, then I think Marriott is probably worth a shot. It is a good program, has a good cc tie in, and there are lots of Courtyards and Fairfields in smaller markets.
