Ninatonka, you need to specify where you are buying your tickets if you want to have a discussion about why SQ tends to be expensive.

If you are travelling out of SIN, then I agree with you 100%. SQ fares ex-Singapore are very expensive and do not compete with any other carrier visiting Changi.
You do however need to realise that Singaporeans are so crazy about their carrier that SQ can actually get away with it!

Try buying you tickets in BKK in future, BKK is one of the best places in Asia to buy cheap airfares. You will find that TG is slightly more expensive there, but SQ will prove to be quite affordable there.

Secondly, please keep in mind that direct flights are always more expensive then connection flights.
