I have been wondering what to do with my $2,000,000 I have lying around. But, anyways the miles would not post in time to get lifetime platinum because of the changes to the program, as you mentioned.


OP, it probably doesn't make much difference of how you get to HI in Y. AA and UA are about the same. Research availability, that will be your biggest challenge. Not sure when you are going, but two tickets this soon in advance could be a challenge. For example, on AA.com ORD-OGG only has one day that has 2 seats available in all of February. (EDIT: just saw you are coming from LAX, better availability) Good luck!
