Yoiu don't need to go through shenanigans. The TSA rule was changed over a year ago. If you have a BP to access any concourse, you can access all. TSO's are instructed to note for pax that they are at the "wrong" concourse because the bulk of people going to the "wrong" concourse really have made an error, but they won't stop you and you don't need to make up silly stories of buy refundable tix.
That's if the clerks remember the policy or decide to say that it is not allowed.. But let's not get too OT

I have done the same. The scan is stored on my laptop and can be recalled if necessary.
