Lost United Club Card Debacle

Yesterday my wallet was stolen, including my RCC (now United Club) card.

I know I can get into the clubs by giving them my MP number, but I'll be flying a couple Star Alliance flights in the next few weeks and that won't work for their lounges.

I called customer service to replace the card, and was told it was going to be a $50 fee and I wouldn't receive it for 6 weeks anyway.

I asked nicely if there was any way she could waive it this time, but she wouldn't budge. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm happy to pay a reasonable fee to replace it - 10 or 15 dollars - but $50 for something I've already paid more than $500 for, several years in a row? And SIX weeks? My bank is sending me a new card in two days and I'm sure I've made them less money.

I've stuck with the club membership through the downgrading of the food and the ever-increasing crowd in the clubs, but this might be the end.
