I have identified possibly THE very best value using UA miles on the new chart I believe.
Sydney-Guam.
Australia to Oceania is now 20K/40K/50K UA miles.
Oceania lists Guam as a valid destination. The only Star carrier to fly to Guam AFAIK is ANA from NAR - correct?
But ANA do not fly to SYD. So to redeem this award one needs first to fly SYD-SIN ("South Asia") on SQ and SIN-NAR on ANA or SQ. I'd choose the latter of course.
So, lets see for 50,000 United miles, SYD-GUM (A pretty decent place to visit BTW)
You go SQ Sleeper First Class SYD to SIN. (100,000 miles)
SQ Sleeper First Class SIN-NAR (Japan zone) (80,000)
ANA First (if they run 3 classes) NAR-GUM is (120,000)
That is a HECK of a lot of flying - 20 hours each way probably, and a stopover of your choice in either SIN or NAR. To redeem these flights seperately runs as you can see costs
300,000 miles. All now for 50,000 MP miles!
To do some long runs in the legendary SQ First Class sleeper seats we will do this one week just for fun.
