Any new thoughts on this topic? I accepted this offer over the weekend and got 31048 miles for $599 and I will get 1198 miles on the credit card. So I purchased miles for less than 1.86 cpm. I need the miles anyway for a *A award I want to book in February so it was either this or buy at the new 3.5 cpm rate or hope for a share deal at 1 cpm (but I think that is a long shot). BTW the miles do post instantly.
It's the loophole to get cheaper miles - multiple airlines have a similar method - and you can do this on refundable tickets repeatedly, refunding the ticket but keeping the multiplier miles. Again, that works on multiple carriers that have a similar option. Really makes a difference if you need mileage to top off an account. But unless need them to reach a certain level then it's still not worth it.
