Have you considered to ship your belongings as cargo for such move?

When I moved back home from the States, I knew there's no way I could afford to take all my stuff and books as check-in. I went for the cargo route. I was very happy for my decision, both mentally and financially.

You might want to start a different thread in our Japan Forum to ask what are the alternative and/or cheaper options to ship stuff back to the States. I am sure the resident experts have good suggestions.
