I was on UA 943 in seat 20A yesterday and as we took off... maybe 1500 ft in the air, a long piece of metal molding, probably 8 feet long and 4 inches wide came crashing to the deck of the cabin, brushing up against the lady sitting next to me and hitting the arm rest of a couple other seats along the way. It could have done some physical serious damage as it was not light plastic... probably aluminum from what I could tell....

To make the matters worse, about a hour and a half into the entertainment portion of the flight, the purser, because of numerous complaints in F & C (not sure what was going on with it up there), reset the complete system and started everything over.. meaning that I had to sit through half the film to catch up where I was when all of this started.

They took the names of the passengers who were directly adjoining (me included) the crashing metal but have not heard anything since.
