It's not really a long drive which requires an overnight stay.
There is one situation where I would stay somewhere outside of two big cities and that's if I'm away from home on a multi-night trip and want to save money including paying for parking.
That said, there's motel cluster near the PHL airport, some of which are walking distance from a SEPTA station.
