I just wanted to bring this thread from the archive as I just flew SQ Airbus 310-300 service between SIN and MLE. I had been on a waitlist for J class for two months but it never cleared. Now I know why. There are actually only 12 J class seats on this flight, which are normally sold as F for other short Asian flights such as to BKK and KLA. So even if I could not fly J class, I was assigned a seat in the middle cabin that is normally sold as J class. Granted its not
J class on 777 or 744 but it was a nice surprise. Only gripe is that I am not getting a 25% J class bonus. On the return to SIN, however, I am confirmed on J class so I can recline up to 160 degrees. Wonderful as it is a 4 hour midnight flight.

Incidentally, I was allowed access to Silver Kris lounge with my economy class ticket which showed my UA G mark.
