The only sure way is to stay at a different hotel the 2nd night.

All hotel programs, including IHG, define a "stay" as "any number of consecutive nights at the same hotel, no matter how many times you check in or check out".

And at IC, you earn per "stay", not per night, not per booking.

Even if you book separate stays, either the hotel or Priority Club is likely to merge them into one stay.

And since you're only supposed get either 2000 flat points per IC stay, Prioirity Club is likely asways on the watch for people trying to "work around" that by booking separate stays. If everyone could get 2000 points per night, instead of just 2000 points per stay, at ICs, just by booking the nights separately, I think you would have heard about it by now!

(And there's no difference that I can see between trying to get 4000 points for a 2-night IC stay than for trying to get points for one night and miles for the other. Both are a violation of the rules.)
