Your experience with getting a card replaced

I am interested in how long it takes you to get a card replaced.

I have an AMEX Platinum -- they'd been proposing it to me for years and I finally bit, when they pointed out the savings on foreign transactions -- I travel internationally at least monthly.

Yesterday, Friday, I got an email that there seemed to be a fraudulent attempt to use my card -- which I verified.

The soonest they could get me a new card -- in Northern New Jersey, mind you -- was Tuesday. I told them I'd be travelling and suggested they get it to me by 4PM on Sunday which they said was impossible. So I said OK then Paris CDG airport hotel on Monday. Not possible. I am travelling to a place where I'd rather not have a replacement card circulating (and have no time to go to an office to pick it up). So, the best then they can do is USPS by 10 days from now.

Is this really the service that comes with the Platinum card?

I do remember when my wallet was stolen in London ten years ago, my VISA card arrived where I was staying, by courier, within 20 hours, but I had to go pick up the AMEX replacement at their office three days later (by which time I was in Paris).

What do you think is reasonable?
