*S is rapidly heading towards meaninglessness; for most, it will make more sense to become a Kayaker and buy *A benefits a la carte, as United now offers.
Having said that, when I was *S, wherever I flew on *A metal, my boarding zone was never last. There may not have been a specific roll call, but you still boarded before non-elites.
