Glad to hear about the meal service in first class on Acela. How does its quality compare to various airline premium cabin flights with a "full" meal service too?
The attitude in the cafe car is sometimes even worse

Service varies greatly in F. Last night was a newbie, so some things were slower than in the past but he tried real hard and i was okay with end result. The guy next to me wasn't at some points though. The meal itself is tastier than most airplane food, you get the meal and a dessert. Last night i had a lobster salad and was surprised that it was a chunk of lobster (nice size) on top of the lettuce (with beets and some other stuff), not lobster salad with more mayo than lobster. There was a pork option and vegetarian option offered, as well. They also have a small appetite option like cheese and crackers if you don't want the meal.

They start with nuts and a drink and distribute menus (yes, they still have them), eventually coming back for your order and start service based on when you're getting off the train.
