In the end it depends on your income and your priorities as to where to spend your money. For a short flight such as CDG-JFK I would normally not pay for Business and be happy with PV (I primarily have to pay flights out of my own pocket).
For this gig I am getting a lump sum to cover my fee plus travel and how much I spend on the latter is up to me. In the end I can give up the flat bed and somewhat nicer food on a short westbound day flight, pay the CDG lounge access charge for PV passengers, and keep an extra $1000 in my pocket.
I've been really interested in the many varied PV assessments on this board... thank you.
