I've found the service and attitude, from the guy who takes the car, to the doormen, to the front desk folks, to the RC people, to the guys who bring the car, to be 99.9% great. And I've been there at some really busy times (like the US Open Tennis Championships).
Yes, the rooms are small. Yes the bathrooms are tiny. Yes the "views" are marginal (try to get something high on the 42nd St. side). But people-wise, it's been fine.
That has been my experience at this property too. While the following doesn't speak to all Hyatt properties, lying to customers is a very strong indicator of a travel service provider exhibiting a major attitude problem. I have not personally witnessed the staff at this Hyatt hotel lie to customers, and that is probably a very good indicator that somethings are actually right with this hotel.

Stay/point credit is indeed not always provided on such rates (and very frequently are not to be provided), but at-property Diamond benefits are always to be provided on such rates.
