While noting that points are not worthless, it's worth it to note that Hilton management gains at the expense of most Hilton HHonors customers with the transition to the "premium" room level pricing systems. This program was not instituted for Hilton to increase its expenditures per point redeemed -- it was instituted to enrich Hilton Worldwide (corporate parent/brand owner) at the expense of most Hilton HHonors customers.

From the customer perspective, Hilton HHonors points are worth less compared to what was the situation at the start of this year or even in any year of stronger global economic levels during the past decade. Whether some can come around to acknowledging that or not, well that is not even worth getting into.

Hilton HHonors is to the US hotel "loyalty" program customers what Delta SkyMiles is to the US airline "loyalty" program customers.
