F7 on AA102 for the red-eye return, that's the one I'd be really disappointed not to get; hoping the EXP will make a difference. Will be calling on arrival in HNL to ask to have the status change applied - here's hoping !!
Didn't get the upgrade on the outbound AA5, but turns out this is not a good test of Platinum success. Discovered tonight that I was on the Gold upgrade list all along, despite being Platinum
I absolutely know I made the call(s) to take care of this, but apparently it didn't happen. Purchased the tickets back in May, called in July soon after finishing Platinum challenge to reflect status on itinerary ... and called again within the week to be sure I was on the status upgrade list as Platinum --- never happened.
The good news is that EXP status reflected on my acct tonight almost immediately on completion of flight earlier today - by the time we got to the hotel from the airport --- lot's of traffic on Nimitz as usual
. Called EXP desk, and they confirmed that I've been on the Gold upgrade list, applied the EXP status to the itinerary and immediately got us into First confirmed for the return flight.
Lesson learned ... one that hopefully won't be applicable to us in the future, presuming I don't drop out of EXP status.
