I'm trying to book an inter island award flight for 2 people on 12/10 to 12/12 on delta.com HNL-LIH-HNL. My choices for departure are at 5:30 AM only but I have a number of choices for the return. No matter what I pick, I get "We're sorry. One or more of the flights you selected just sold out. Please search again to view and select alternate flights."

I called the PM line twice and was told the first time that they were all sold out and I should call HA. I call HA and they tell me award inventory is wide open for the times I want fly. I call the PM line back and after a couple of times being on hold, was told that HA has no award availability open to partners.

So, I go to EF and check and sure enough, the only T inventory (coach-partner awards) for the departure is at 5:30 AM and T=7. The return flights with T>0 all seem to coincide with the award calendar availability I see on delta.com that fails as soon as I select the return.

So my question to you fellow FTers who are way more savvy than I am with this is where is this breaking? Is it Delta's issue or Hawaiian's?
