Hhmm, excellent point. I hadn't considered the added miles from this flight (although perhaps my student ticket wouldn't earn full mileage).

How are you searching for domestic awards? The BA website isn't great in my experience at finding AA awards. You have to look up sAAver award space on the AA website often then ring up BA to get the flights.
I'd been searching via the BA site, thanks for the tip. On AA.com, looks like they genuinely do not fly to BHB and BGR but do hit OGG. That could plausibly give us $1000 - $1500 in value for 70k miles. Good to know, thank you!
