ai has actually come out with a policy for upgrades which they seem to be following quite well....you only get an upgrade from economy to business if you book a fare in 's' class or above....& business to first upgrade is only if you have a paid business fare....

so there is less abuse by the babu's & mantri's....was sitting next to sachin pilot the other day on an ai flight from lhr-del....even he was traveling in business & not in first....
