Maybe, not many in USA, but in Asia and Europe, I usually find some kind of gift(fruits, nuts, cookies etc) with the welcome letter/card from GM.
My name is there on the card.

Sometimes I find another person`s name on the card, means the room was re-assigned to me from another guest at last minutes so housekeepers have no time to replace the card.
