CX's 777s don't have the range for HKG-YVR (or rather, the other way). The CX 777s are mostly the early A models (range <<5,200 miles) not that the now-standard B model has the range either. The -300s don't have the range either (<6,000) while YVR-HKG is nearly 6,400. CX would need -200ERs and I don't think they have any on order.
