Longtime CO flyer. Does AA offer perks for 1,000,000 AA miles no matter how earned?

I understand that AAdvantage has a "Million Miler" program, but that ALL miles earned in the AAdvantage program count towards this status, not only miles earned by actually flying.

I cant believe this - it would seem almost too good to be true.

I tried to find something on AA.com about this earning possibility, but cant find the details on the program

I will have about 700,000 miles on the newly combined CO/UAL airline program, meaning I am about 10 years away from the new MP program's "Million Miler" status, which essentially gives me lifetime low-level elite status (Silver/Premier) for both me and partner.

However, in my estimate, I have likely earned over a million CO points, based on credit card purchases with affiliated credit cards, AmEx membership miles, hotel stays, car rentals, and other generic online purchases.

it pains me to think that had I been allied with American all this time, I would be treated much better by getting this status.

Can anyone shed light on how this works?

Wouldnt this policy dilute the Elite pool - I would imagine you could have million milers that never even flew a single time on the airline.

It just seems strange that American would do this.

ANy info appreciated!
